Testing & Transparency
Third-party laboratory testing is an important part of how we evaluate and document our Research Use Only materials. When testing documentation is available for a product, we make the applicable Certificate of Analysis (COA) accessible so customers can review the reported laboratory results directly.
Testing may vary by product, lot, sample, and laboratory. The specific COA associated with a product should be reviewed to determine which analyses were performed and what results were reported.
Independent Documentation
Available testing is performed by independent third-party laboratories. Laboratory reports are presented as supplied so the reported results can be reviewed directly.
Mighty Mountain Peps does not alter laboratory results displayed on original Certificates of Analysis. Product names used in the public catalog may occasionally differ from the terminology used by the testing laboratory; when this occurs, the original laboratory document should remain unchanged.
Understanding a Certificate of Analysis
Certificates of Analysis can contain several different measurements depending on the material and the testing performed. Below are a few common terms you may see on laboratory documentation.
Identity
Identity testing helps determine whether the analyzed material corresponds to the compound or material identified on the laboratory report.
Purity
Purity testing reports the relative proportion of the target compound compared with detected impurities under the laboratory's analytical method. A purity percentage does not, by itself, indicate how much material is contained in the vial.
Net Content
Net content testing measures the quantity of the target material detected in the tested sample. This is different from purity: purity describes the relative composition of the analyzed material, while net content addresses the measured quantity.
Laboratory results apply to the sample identified on the applicable report. Testing methods, reporting formats, and analyses may vary by laboratory and sample. Always review the original Certificate of Analysis for the specific information reported.
Additional Testing
Depending on the product and the testing requested, laboratory documentation may include additional analyses beyond identity, purity, or net content. The individual COA should always be reviewed to see exactly which tests were performed for that particular sample.
Review the Documentation
We encourage customers to review the available Certificate of Analysis associated with the specific research material they are considering. COAs are provided so laboratory-reported information can be viewed directly rather than summarized solely through marketing language.
